N-acetylcysteine, simply known as NAC, is a powerful antioxidant that can offer help to women who have PCOS or insulin resistance. N-acetyl cysteine comes from the amino acid L-cysteine.

It is also needed for the production of glutathione, one of the body’s most potent antioxidants. Women with PCOS have a much higher rate of oxidative stress and the glutathione may well help to combat this

Boosts Fertility

For the approximately 70%of women with PCOS who experience fertility issues. A meta-analysis published in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology looked at the benefits of NAC involving 910 women with PCOS. The review showed that NAC provided significant improvements for improving ovulation, pregnancy and live birth rates as compared to a placebo alone.

Improves Insulin Resistance

NAC is emerging as a promising option for women with PCOS to improve their insulin levels. An important action of NAC is to protect insulin receptors and influence insulin receptor activity secretion from the pancreas cells. As a result, NAC can improve insulin resistance.

Restores Hormone Balance

A surprising benefit of NAC is that it has the potential to lower androgen levels and regulate menstrual cycles. In their study, Oner and colleagues randomized women with PCOS to take metformin or NAC  for 24 weeks. Both treatments resulted in significant decreases in hirsutism score, free testosterone, and menstrual irregularity.

Fights Inflammation

Women with PCOS have been shown to have higher levels of oxidative stress than women without PCOS. High levels of oxidative stress can damage cells and promote inflammation which in turn worsens the metabolic aspects of PCOS. As a powerful antioxidant, NAC works to fight oxidative stress and reduce inflammation.

NOTE: NAC powder is not the nicest tasting thing in the world so make sure you add your NAC to another flavored drink, whether that be a smoothie, juice, or any liquid that is flavored.

REDUCES HAIR GROWTH (HIRSUTISM)

Excess androgens, or testosterone, can be a symptom of PCOS in most women who have the condition. This is known to be the cause of unwanted hair growth. NAC - through its stress-reducing & insulin sensitising effects - will quickly remove any facial hair you currently have.

FIGHTS INSULIN RESISTANCE

Through NAC's insulin-sensitising effects, it works to improve  your insulin sensitivity, thus, fighting insulin resistance - one of the main drivers of many debilitating PCOS symptoms.

REDUCES INFLAMMATION

By helping you achieve overall hormonal balance, Balance breaks the everyday struggle PCOS can cause. Less cravings, more energy, reduced hair growth, boosted weight loss, improved skin, and period regulation are just some of the reasons Balance is one of the most effective supplements for PCOS.

It's even been the main reason why some women have fallen pregnant and started a family!

Success Stories

Once I started taking NAC, the inflammation in my back and joints, began to disappear! It has been a biting winter (which of course aggravates my joint pain every year), and I wasn't having any pain! I could touch parts of my body that were often painful to the touch, and the pain was GONE! My facial hair has gotten lighter, and it doesn't grow in as fast. My hair loss is much better (I didn't know it was part of PCOS). I used to have to hair falling out in the shower, my hair brush and all over my clothes on a daily basis. Not anymore! Drew really DOES care about each of us and our journey to bettering ourselves. I can't wait to try his other products!!
